Here are the latest photo's of the vegetables in the aquaponics system. First photo is blue lake green beans, next is papaya, I have 5 papaya, and all are putting on fruit, next is bibb lettuce, next is, what I call Dottie's pepper, because Dottie gave me one for the seeds, they look like a stunted bell pepper, they are sweet, and prolific, next is Chinese cabbage, next is celery, next is cucumber, and finally red beets,

Sure is great to go out and pick a nice, fresh, healthy salad for lunch.

Here is a picture of a couple of tilapia that we harvested a few months ago.  The biggest one weighed just a bit  over 4#'s, and the other was close to 4#.  I felet the fish, so at this weight one fish makes a nice dinner for one person.

This is some of the first crops in the system.  Above is the bibb letuce,  to the right is the broccoli.

To the left is the celery, and below is the kohlrabi, and below left is the marigold that serve as pest control.  I was having a problem with white flies, but the marigold sure got rid of them.

The marigold are doing well, and seem to be taking care of any insect problems

Adding the tilapia

This is the first of the tilapia fingerlings, we have planted all the grow bed with beans, simply because they germinate, and grow fast.  You can tell that Bill is still getting acquainted with his cell phone, he shot this vertically, and resulted in this narrow video.  There is a cameo appearance by my beautiful wife, Belgica

We decided that the 40 fingerling that I added in the beginning, just wasn't producing enough waste, to provide enough nutrients for the plants, so I bought another 20 one pounders, hoping to get better nutrients for the plants

A place to chat, post photo's and video's

As you can see in this photo, this was the very beginning of my aquaponics adventure, here we are testing the pump, the flood tank, and flush system.  We had not added the gravel to the grow beds yet.  We actually fired the system up on December 12th 2012

This video shows the start up of the system.  Bill Baio, came over and shot this video with his cell     phone.
